For this giveaway my readers were invited to share a story about someone who has made a positive impact in their life! I personally read each story and had to chose the 4 winners with the most inspiring story and let me just say…IT WAS HARD!! I liked so many of them and that is what took me so long to chose the winners. I wanted to share the stories of the 4 winners with all of you because I think hearing stuff like this inspires us to be a better person, gives us hope and sometimes even changes lives!

My granddaughter Nevaeh inspires me she has been a fighter for life ever since she was born. she was born with a rare heart defect called ebsteins anomaly. She is 6 years old and is always in and out of the doctors. She has a heart of gold and loves the lord she also has asthma and a very bad case of eczema that is uncontrollable. Everything is a wait and see all the time with the doctors, but for her its always ok and she always comforts us and tell us to pray and to give it to God. Three years ago she lost her dad in a hit and run accident. Her mom was four months pregnant with their second child, who now is now three. She never got to meet her daddy, but Nevaeh always tells her about him and is always showing pictures of him to her. Nevaeh is so young but so smart and loves to pray for those that are sick and hurting in life. If you were to see her you would never know she is sick because she never complains about anything. She just loves life and lives everyday to its fullest as we all should. They say god puts people in your life for a reason well she is my reason and example. She teaches me day to day how to be happy. She now prays for her mommy to find a godly man and a new daddy for her and her sister Zoe. I love when she says to god, “If it’s your will jesus to give mommy a new husband please do.” Nevaeh loves to go out to dinner so i would give this card to her so she can take her mommy and sister out.

A person who has recently made a huge impact in my life and in the lives of my family, namely and most importantly, my autistic 6 year old son, is his teacher, Ms. Michelle. Ethan was placed in her class in February after month and months of heartbreak and tragedy. Between the months of Sept. 2010 and Jan. 2011, my was hospitalized in 4 separate psychiatric institutions because he had become very violent. For a while we didn’t even know if we would be able to keep him at home. But, after the district refused him other placements, we took a leap of faith and allowed him to be placed in her classroom. Our lives have been blessed beyond measure by this placement. She knows special needs kids. She has been able to work with him, work with his behaviors, and coax the best out of him. My son’s first week at school, when something didn’t go his way, my son pulled his pants down and urinated on her and on the classroom floor. That day while I picked him up, she helped bring him to the car and as we were getting him seated, she told my son she loved him! I have NEVER hear a teacher tell my child that. But she did. Most teachers would have been so disgusted and angered by his act of defiance. But she wasn’t. For several months, she came to our house twice a week to work with us at home. If we all handled my son’s behaviors the same way, everything would be easier. She helped me gain confidence in my parenting skills. And, this has been a tremendous blessing and a dramatic improvement. I used to be a prisoner in my own home with my son, afraid to go anywhere. This woman has brought our child back to us and improved him. Thankfully we get her 2 more years. We can’t wait to see what happens with our son!If we are chosen, we are taking Ms. Michelle out!!

I have a special friend who has made such an impact on my life. Her name is Marie. I met her 5 years ago. I admired her as a person. Getting to know her, I learned her husband was battling brain cancer. I couldn’t believe it! I would have never known. She was always so happy! Always smiling! Always in great spirits! We became so close. We were like sisters. I finally felt comfortable enough in our friendship where I could ask her, “how could you always be smiling??? Why are you always laughing??? If I were in your shoes, I’d feel as if I was the one dying!!!” She told me, she has her days when she feels, just that! She says she has a lot of those day! But she is going to make the best of the days she had left with her husband. She was going to make the best memories for her kids, while their father is still with them. WOW!!!! Here I was, supposed to be the supporting friend. Giving her courage & motivation. & it was I, who learned from her experience. To appreciate what I have, when I have it!!!! He lost his battle 6-14-2009.

My friend, Trina, has inspired me. She was 22 when she was diagnosed. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and she is a 10 year survivor of Hodgkins-lymphoma and she has been able to talk to me and share with me her stories. They have made me be a stronger person and made it easier to deal with my cancer. I remember a story she told me about her first time getting chemo. There was an older man in the chair next to her and as her IV was inserted and the chemo started dripping into her body, she started to cry. The old man told her, don’t worry, everybody cries their first time. Remembering her telling me that story as I went in for my first round of chemo made it easier to deal with. I cried as they inserted the IV and I was able to just let it go, knowing her story, knowing it would all be ok.
