Hello from Coupon Gal!

Hello from Coupon Gal!

Hi! My name is Christy (just in case you didn’t already know that. I’ve had a few of you say recently that you didn’t like that you don’t know my name). I’m the ONLY one that writes and works on my website, so anything you see comes from MEEEE!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a little about myself, so I thought it was time for an update. If you have read my about me, you know I never imagined that people from all over the world would be interested in my deal finds or what I have to say, but I am truly honored and flattered that you do! I began my journey here on Coupon Gal 3 years and 3 months ago (February 3, 2009) because my friends wanted to know how to get some of the deals I was getting and how I was stretching my family income with coupons and online sales. I guess you can say I’ve always had it in me to find that “deal” because the desire just comes naturally for me. I don’t ever feel like I need motivation to save money and I hardly never pay full-price. I remember even when I was young, I would figure out a way to get what I really wanted for less money. I love looking back and reminiscing, so I hope you don’t mind taking a trip down memory lane with me.

Here is a look at my first CVS and Walgreens deals…not bad, but boy oh boy did I have a lot to learn. You have to remember, back then I probably only had all of 10 readers and they were all family or friends. I’m just sayin’…. No, but really when compared to my current CVS deals and Walgreens deals, you can see how much I have grown not only as a blogger, but as a couponer and I am STILL learning. I have a passion for learning. That’s probably why I went to college and became an elementary school teacher. Although I am no longer teaching, I still find myself constantly striving to learn more.

When I look back at how much I’ve grown as a blogger (that’s the title of what I do), I’m amazed at how much I have crammed in this little website of mine called Coupon Gal. I strive to stay focused on what I truly have a passion for because I’ve realized when you do what you love, it makes you happy. So, the stuff you see here that I write about really shows what I’m interested in, what I think is valuable and what I would most likely use myself. My pride and joys of my website are my ongoing series, Healthy Gal, Savings Gal, Fashion Gal, and Crafty Gal. Sometimes I find it hard to get everything typed up and posted for you guys (because of time and because I’m a perfectionist), but I constantly have lots of great ideas in my head and eventually I get it up for you guys (usually in the wee hours of the morning when I just can’t sleep because the excitement is running through my veins and head and I’m feeling inspired to write…like right now). If only I were an octopus and could get it all out there…

I wish I could bring myself to have someone help me with my website, but it’s my baby and at this moment in time, I can’t. I still feel the same way I felt about my website 3 years ago. I just have to know that what goes up is accurate, reliable, and truthful, but even more importantly, I want to know who my readers are, what they are looking for, answer their questions, and chase down a deal they are looking for myself.

I noticed some things never change. Yes, I am a creature of habit! I still shop through Ebates, still love to find and post retail couponsdining out coupons, and I still LOVE to post Amazon deals! I mean, who doesn’t love Amazon? The Amazon Christmas Deals are to die for. If you were here with me in the past few years, you know what I’m talking about. If you are a reader this October-December, rest assured I will be writing about those awesome deals again!

I have my moments where I could just quit couponing because a deal didn’t work out when I drove all the way to “wherever” or some cashier was rude, someone made a snude comment about me using coupons (like when I told you about my worst couponing experience), or someone says I don’t look like a couponer (like we have some crazy look about us or as if when you open the dictionary, you see a picture of a couponer and it’s nothing like me and you), but I just pull myself back up again and trudge on because I know that using coupons has brought me to a financial freedom I would otherwise have never had. Avid couponers you know this is true, sometimes you just need a break from coupons, and yes I do take them. When I do, I just eat from my freezer, use my stockpile and buy the necessities to get me through. New couponers (if you are anthing like I was) you will be enthralled with excitment and your eyes will practically pop out of your head when you see your receipt total, or you may even cry because you were able to save so much. Just know that new deals always rise again and if you didn’t get it this time, there will be a next time….I promise. (I remember trying to use every coupon I could before they expired….what was I thinking?….).

I truly love blogging and although I have my moments where I feel overwhelmed, I am so very thankful (down to the tips of my toes) to have the opportunity to help so many people. I would never take a moment back. My kids are 5 and 7 and I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I love sharing my deal finds with you guys and I’m thankful for my loyal readers.

With all that said (I know I ramble…sorry) my hope is that wether you are a new reader, an old reader, family, or friend, I hope you come back and visit often. I love getting comments and hearing about your saving adventures, so if you have the time, drop me a line in my Coupon Gal Email, on my Coupon Gal Facebook Page, or Coupon Gal Twitter Page. I look forward to another year of savings with you and again, THANK YOU for all of your support over the last three years! I hope this year brings lots more learning and saving for you!

Wow what an inspiration you are! I love couponing, always have even when I had lots of money coming in, I used them! Now that I am a homeschooling mom I try to help out the hubby as much as I can by being responsible with our very little money and baking on the side. I am looking forward to starting my own blog, most likely about food, because I have friends who have requested it. I post my pics of dinner and desserts on facebook and instagram and get lots of feedback. I’ve heard that blogging can be exhausting and my plate is a bit full, so I am going to take it slow! But its great to hear your story! Looking forward to more of your posts!

Ohhhh Jen!!!

I just love what you said!! I can’t even begin to tell you how much that means to me that you think of my simple little post about looking like a couponer as a reminder that we don’t have to look a certain way, dress a certain way, or act a certain way…we are all just people who are wise with our money and work hard at managing it. Thank you for being a loyal reader for the past two years! It’s honestly because of people like you that I continue to do what I do here on Coupon Gal! Your stockpile would make me proud, so keep it up girly! You are absolutely right that you can rest your head on your pillow knowing your bills are paid and you have money in your savings account! That’s AWESOME!!

Just wanted to tell you that I loved your post about not looking like a couponer. I read it 2 years ago when I found your site and that post always comes into my head when I have a rude cashier or someone snarls at me for using coupons. Some of my friends are even surprised when they come over my house and see my stockpile. They always tell me that I don’t look like a couponer. I just chuckle inside knowing I’m not the only one, you get those remarks too! I tell them I am not sure how a couponer is supposed to look but with all the money I save then I can splurge on myself, and rest my head on my pillow knowing my bills are paid and have money in my savings account. They usually shut up when I say that. I live in an upper class neighborhood and sometimes (only sometimes) I have those moments of slight embarrassment and discouragement using coupons but that one post always pops into my head and keeps me grounded and not feeling like an outsider, so thank you! I truly appreciate it:)
