I have somany people ask me: Do coupons really save you that much? Is it really worth the time invested? Do you actually use the stuff you buy with your coupons? Here are my answers to all those who are skeptical: YES, YES, and ABSOLUTELY YES! I really think it’s just they have never experienced what I call a “Coupon Ah, Ha” moment!

The pictures above are from my little pit stop into Vons today. It took me all of 10 minutes to run in and grab these and my total was only $.35! Here is what I did:

Bought 4 Right Guard Deodorants: $1.00 ea.
Used 2 $2.00 Right Guard Deodorant Printable Coupons
Final Price: All 4 FREE! (Well, I had to pay $.35 tax)

Bought 1 Package of Golden Oreos: $3.00
Used my FREE Oreo coupon I got from signing up to be a Fan of Oreo on Facebook (I wrote about this on my Coupon Gal Facebook page a few weeks ago).
Final Price: FREE!

I don’t look at couponing as a job or a burden, I look at it as a very satisfying, responsible way of utilizing my time and money! I take deep pleasure in moments like I had today when the cashier said, “WOA, how did you do that? Did I mess up?”

I have to tell you….my husband is a firefighter and definitely should….I mean “will” use that deodorant, but I on the other had REALLY enjoyed my FREE cookie on my way home (well…ok, maybe I had like 2 or 5…who’s counting anyway?). The power of coupons!

PS…you can still get the deodorant at Vons (or it’s partner stores Safeway, etc.) through Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Just print two of these Right Guard Deodorant Printable Coupons.

It is amazing what I have learned about couponing from your site (and a few others) and it’s amazing what is out there for coupons and savings. Yesterday on my trip to Kroger I ended up with $13 worth of coupons because of tips from your site – my biggest find yesterday (besides that free package of Oreos!) was Healthy Choice meals for $1.38 (each) after internet coupons and a coupon book I got directly from Healthy Choice.

Thanks for all you do!!!

Hi Fran!

I am sooooo glad to hear that! And….I am glad I am not the only one who gets excited over the savings :) Thanks for telling me your story about Kroger! That’s awesome! I hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day!!

I have also really learned a lot from you and your site. I make it a habit to set goals of how much I can save on my weekly grocery trips and am up to $35. I rarely spend more than $80 for a weeks worth (3 boys in my house) and it has been great. My husband even brags a little at work about it :)
Keep the great info coming and THANKS for everything you do to help us out here on the other end of the computer ;)

I too have learned a lot from reading your blog. Please keep it up.
I did want to let you know that the our local Vons limits us to only 1 of each kind of printable coupon. So your scenario would result in only 2 free deodorants for us, instead of 4. Is there a written company policy that I might be able to refer to?
Thanks!

Jennifer,
I think setting goals is wonderful for maintaining your budget and keeping you focused on your savings. Also, I think it keeps you more motivated to achieve that goal…at least it does for me :)

Shelley, I am glad you enjoy watching the register go down as much as I do! It’s a hard feeling to explain to some people that have never experienced and that’s why I love sharing my stories with you guys…..because you guys get it :)

Babychupes,
I have never heard of Vons saying that. But according to their company policy, they should take them. Here is a link to their company policy online. I would take this with you next time you go….hopefully it will straighten everything out for you :) You can always pay for the deodorant in two seperate transactions too….just an idea….or maybe they won’t let you do that either?

Here is the link to the coupon policy:

Have a great night everyone! It’s nice to hear from my readers…so THANK YOU!!
