I just went with a little more expensive popcorn maker that's like the ones from the theater, only smaller. The kids jump up and down and clap every time we make popcorn. It's a far cry from them dodging flying kernels from our air popper. They think they are extra special when we tell them it's popcorn night! :) Love your post! Thanks for sharing! Part of the reason that we save in some areas, is so that we can splurge in others.... I think there is a huge difference between frugal and being cheap. Teaching your kids how to spend wisely, makes those moments like your $10 stuffed leapord that much more priceless. You bought a memory that will be big in her mind forever. I LOVE this post. We went to Chicago recently from California and went to the aquarium and my daughter chose a pink seal that she just HAD to have. She sleeps with it every night and has taken it everywhere since. I'm so glad we paid for it, but it was hard not to think about all that money I could have saved getting it somewhere else. AND she has a million stuffed animals in her closet that she never touches.
