~Walgreens Register Rewards Q & A~
What is a Register Reward (RR)?

A Register Reward is a coupon that prints at the register after you are done paying. It prints out of a machine next to the register, when you have purchased a certain item that Walgreens is offering a RR on. For example if Walgreens is offering a $1.00 RR when you purchase one tube of Colgate Toothpaste, your transaction will look like this:

Buy 1 Colgate Toothpaste: $2.49
Pay: $2.49
Receive: $1.00 RR

If you ever have a problem with the store not printing your RR, save your receipt and call Walgreens Customer Relations at: (800) 925-4733.

How long is a Register Reward good for?
A RR is usually good for 2-3 weeks. Just make sure you read your expiration date so you don’t forget to use it before it expires!

Can I use a Register Reward to buy the same item again?
NO! If you go in and buy an item or items that make a RR print and then you try to use that specific RR again to buy the same item a new RR will not print. If you want to earn the RR again, you will need to purchase the item and pay cash.

Can I use a Register Reward to buy a different Register Reward item?
YES! You can use any RR you have earned as long as you use it on a different product than you purchased when you earned your RR.

Can I purchase more than 1 item that a RR is being offered on?
NO! Walgreens only allows 1 RR per item, per transaction. If you purchase more than one item, you will still only receive one RR. If you want more than one item offering a RR, just make sure you purchase it in a separate transaction.

I hope this answers any questions you may have, if not email me HERE and I will do my best to answer your questions promptly!

Great question Darlene!

You can use as many RR you want in one transaction as long as you have the same or more amount of items in the transaction.

I have a question about using multiple RR’s. I have 2 for $2.50 for a total of $5, Can I use both RR’s in one transaction as long as I buy at least 2 items that are over $5? Or can I only use 1 RR per transaction?

Hello Annemarie,

Walgreen’s RR program does not requre any cards…that’s one of my favorite parts about their program. All you have to do is purchase items that are included in the sale (as specified in the ad) and their register will print out your register reward. YAY, righ?

I hope this helps clarify! Have a FRUGALICIOUS day!

Hi there!
Does Walgreen’s RR program require a special card? Like a Kroger card?
If yes, how do I get one?
Thank you so much.

Hi Jessie!

You know what items can be purchased to receive a RR because they are advertised in the Walgreens weekly ads. Just look for the little white banner that says, “Register Rewards” in red :)

Great question! Have a wonderful night!

How do you know what items can be purchased to receive the RR?

Dear Reader,

That is a great question. I have been told by Walgreens Customer Service that their policy is to adjust the coupon down to the price of the item. I wish we could get the overage, that would be awesome :)

Have a great night!

When couponing at Walgreens, do they allow overages, or do they price down the Q? For example, Thermacare is on sale this week for $2.49 with a $2.49 RR. I have a $3 Q. So can I get the RR plus .51 in overage to apply to another item?

Hi Shae,

No question is dumb, couponing can be really confusing sometimes. I am glad to help :)

The Register Reward is basically a coupon that you can use on ANYTHING (well, anything except tobacco and alchool).

Hope this helps you! Have a wonderful day!

Hello, Im sorry if i sound dumb ( lol) but i read your explanation and still dont get it. The register reward that prints, is it just cash credit? Like, when you say 1$ register reward, is it just 1$ off your next visit regardless of what you buy?

Or is it a coupon on that item you just bought?
